What's Next? - ??? - 2018/19

We are currently fundraising for a new fire alarm system and also to update our toilets. We have a whistle system in place for fire emergencies which we need to replace with a full system of alarms and fire points within the building. We are raising £5000 to cover the cost of this with a Craft Fair on the 17th November and many other activities in the near future. We also need to update the toilets and the disabled toilet needs to be made bigger and so we are raising money to cover this. We are hoping these will be done in the early part of next year. If you can help in any way then all donations will be gratefully received.

Replacing of Door on the Front of The Building - November 2018

The front door of the building will be replaced this month by Flo-Coe Ltd. Again this has been needed doing for some time as the timbers are going rotten due to the large amount of rain we have had over the years and then sunlight on the doors during the drying process has caused the doors to crack and split. This will make the building moor secure and look superb along with the pointing that was done during September.

Front Elevation Re-Pointing - September 2018

We have had the front elevation of the hall repointed with a lime render mortar and we must say that the hall front looks amazing. This has been needed doing for some time and certainly before this winter. It took two weeks to complete and the work was carried out professionally by Grove Building Services.

Hall Floor Restoration - August 2018

We are having the floor restored back to its former glory. The floor which is a Beech Parquet design is being sanded down and a coating replaced to bring out the shine of the wood. This taking a week to complete and half way through it looks amazing.

Community Chorus & Happy Mondays Ukulele Group raise money for the Hall

Haxby based Community Chorus & the Happy Mondays Ukulele Group held a fundraising concert for the Library to the Hall Project on Saturday 4th November. With music from the Beatles to the Monkees from both groups made the night go with a swing.

A grand total of £619.00 was raised for the project which we will see the library eventually move on to the Memorial Hall site.

Many thanks to Diane Beal, leader of Community Chorus and to Mick Hull, leader of the Happy Mondays Ukulele Group for providing their time and efforts into the concert.

The next fundraiser will be on 25th November 2017 when you can see Generation Groove and their Dash Thro' the Decades concert in the main hall.
